  • The Fit of Charles Omenihu

In the fifth round, the Texans made one of the best draft picks of the entire draft by selecting defensive end Charles Omenihu. The front office has expressed their desire to fill the defensive line with more pass rushers. J.J. Watt is obviously as good as it gets, but Jadeveon Clowney and D.J. Reader are known as top tier run stuffers.

  • Houston Texans Three Rounds of Targets

The Houston Texans have two big needs entering the draft this season. They need a cornerback to step in and play day one. Jonathan Joseph is aging, and Kareem Jackson left in free agency. Bradley Roby and Briean Boddy-Calhoun signed with the Texans, but there is still a spot open for a starter to come in and make a difference. Otherwise, much has been made out about the need for an offensive tackle. The Texans could absolutely use an offensive tackle, but an offensive lineman at any spot would be very useful.

  • The Houston Texans Offseason Has Been Nearly Perfect

The Texans have signed safety Tashaun Gipson to a three-year, $22.5 million contract, as well as cornerback Bradley Roby to a one-year, $10 million contract. They also signed defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun to a one-year, $900,000 contract. It may not be as many moves as Texans fans would like, but they are solid moves, and I would hesitate to have made more in the free agent period so far.

  • Houston Texans: Positional Needs to Fill in the Offseason

The Houston Texans were well-rounded and pushed through some injuries during the 2018 AFC South championship season. This offseason, the Texans have several needs that need to be addressed. With three picks in the first two rounds, it is a general consensus that the Texans need to address the offensive line and cornerback with those picks.

  • Offseason as the Texans GM, Part 1

Over the course of the offseason, I will participate in simulated versions of the offseason. The only difference is rather than having Free Agency before the draft, the mock draft took place before Free Agency. Free Agency is scheduled to open up soon, and will be part two of this series.

  • Houston Texans: Players Who Could Be Released

Even though the Houston Texans had a rather successful season — winning 11 games and the AFC South title —  there were tons of players who did not play up to expectations. With the Texans entering free agency with pretty specific needs, here are some cut candidates.

  • Colts at Texans: Keys to Victory

After an 0-3 start from the Houston Texans, and a 1-5 start from the Indianapolis Colts, both teams have rallied to make the playoffs. The Texans rattled off nine straight wins, while the Colts won nine of their last ten. The Texans still managed to win the AFC South, and subsequently claimed the three-seed. Meanwhile, the Colts beat the Titans in the final primetime game of the season to clinch the last spot in the AFC bracket.

  • Defensive Gameplan to Stifle the Colts

While slightly unusual, the Houston Texans should take a different approach on defense to the Wild Card matchup this weekend. The Indianapolis Colts’ offensive line has looked superb in the latter part of the regular season. Rookie offensive guards Quenton Nelson and Braden Smith have helped protect Andrew Luck as well as possible.

  • Saturday Matinee in New York & Possible Playoff Matchups

For today’s game against the Jets, Coutee is out once again with a hamstring injury. Zach Fulton and Andre Hal are questionable. DeAndre Carter was a full participant during practice this week and will play. For an unusual Saturday game, the Texans play on the road with a chance to extend the lead on their division.

  • Deshaun Watson and the Stigma Around the Offensive Line

This season with the revamped offensive line, the expectations were much the same. Those who were signed were swing players on their former teams. The Texans were in desperate need of help though and they had been steady enough over some years to become starters.

  • What's Gone Right For the Texans

The Houston Texans started the 2018 season poorly. With three straight losses to the Patriots, Titans, and Giants, the season outlook did not look so good. Only three teams since 1990 had ever made the playoffs after starting 0-3; the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Lions and 1998 Bills. Only one team had ever made it to 7-3 after starting 0-3; the 1925 Giants.

  • How the Texans Can Slow Down the Browns' Offensive Rookie Duo

12 weeks into the season, Mayfield and Chubb have combined for six AFC Rookie of the Week honors. The Texans will try to extend their winning streak to nine this Sunday against Cleveland. They have some major game planning to do if they plan on stopping this rookie offensive duo.
